Sit back and relax in a cafe or bar along the foreshore or explore the diverse range of arts, crafts and other speciality shops around historic Nelson Place. Wander through the monthly Craft Market and dine out in the waterfront eateries housed in the beautifully restored old buildings with photogenic views of the city skyline.

Scienceworks is bursting with things to challenge curious minds of all ages. It’s an interactive museum that allows little fingers to explore, touch and become involved in all things science; explore gigantic machines that kept the city running, be mystified by the electrifying theatre in the Lightning Room and let your little ones roam safely in enclosed spaces, wander through immersive exhibitions and drop into deep space in the Melbourne Planetarium.

Werribee Open Range Zoo offers a unique opportunity to encounter magnificent animals of the African savannah.  The 200 hectare property is home to some of Africa’s most iconic animals, such as gorillas, lions and other big cats, hippos and inquisitive meerkats.  The zoo also includes wildlife from the grasslands of Asia, North America and Australia.  Take the safari and enjoy this open range environment where the animals are given the space to behave as they would in their natural habitats.

Werribee Mansion epitomises 19th century Australia and is surrounded by 10 hectares of formal gardens. Situated behind Werribee Mansion in a separate wing is the Mansion Hotel and Spa. The luxurious hotel offers five star accommodation with day spa and restaurant for a luxurious getaway.  Within walking distance of Werribee Mansion is the Victoria State Rose Garden. 

Kyneton, a gold rush village that offers the best of country living with the sophistication of the city. Woodend, home to the mysterious Hanging Rock.  Pack a picnic lunch and visit the infamous rock formations the set of Peter Weir's film Picnic at Hanging Rock. While you’re they’re explore the dramatic rock formations, native flora and fauna and the hideout of infamous bushrangers like 'Mad Dog’ Morgan.  Back in town, stroll past historical buildings and the old clock tower on Main Street and then shop the local boutiques for antiques and gifts to take home.  There’s also an excellent bike trail that starts at Woodend Train Station and takes in Woodend, Trentham and Kyneton. Pedal your way from town to town along country lanes and leafy back roads.
